Health & SRMNCAH

Improving sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health while strengthening community capacity and responsive local services.

BRED is implementing the SRMNCAH programme in Bera and Sujanagar upazilas of Pabna district with support from CORE Group USA. The programme works with communities, local government institutions and service providers to improve knowledge, behaviour, rights, entitlements and access to services.

Gender Justice & Child Marriage Prevention

Preventing gender-based violence and child marriage through youth engagement, community awareness, networks and advocacy.

BRED has long-standing experience in gender justice and prevention of violence against women and children. Its work has included model unions, adolescent and youth life-skills training, community awareness, activation of relevant committees, media engagement and platforms to prevent child marriage.

BRED WORKS IN

Skills Development & Entrepreneurship

Building practical skills, entrepreneurship and income opportunities for women, youth and vulnerable communities.

BRED implemented the Women ICT Freelancer and Entrepreneurship Development Project in Pabna, Natore, Sirajganj, Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachari. Training included outsourcing, web design and graphic design, with 240 youth and women receiving entrepreneurship-oriented training. BRED also provides IGA and entrepreneurship training through vulnerable-group programmes.

Community awareness and safe migration
BRED WORKS IN

Safe Migration & Anti-Trafficking

Promoting informed, safer migration and contributing to efforts against human trafficking through networks, awareness and capacity building.

BRED has been involved in safe migration promotion since 2012 and serves as the Secretariat of the Bangladesh Migration Forum, a nationwide forum with 176 members. It also works through ATSEC Bangladesh and has implemented awareness and training initiatives for criminal justice actors.

Renewable Energy & Climate Change Mitigation

Expanding access to renewable energy and promoting lower-emission household technologies in underserved communities.

Since 2010, BRED has worked on solar power in remote and char areas, including Pabna, Sirajganj, Bogra and neighbouring districts. Its renewable-energy experience covers Pabna, Tangail, Sirajganj, Bogra, Gaibandha, Natore and Chapainawabganj. BRED also promoted Improved Cook Stoves, known locally as Bondhu Chula; around 1,500 households received them.

Using education as a pathway to empowerment, opportunity and long-term community development.

Education has been part of BRED’s development work since its inception. Its experience includes children’s education, adult education, training and non-formal primary education. With support from BNFE and BRAC, BRED implemented ten non-formal primary education centres.

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

Improving safe water, sanitation and hygiene while strengthening community and local-government action.

BRED has implemented water supply and sanitation programmes in different project areas. In Bera upazila of Pabna, the organization worked toward full sanitation coverage in different unions and also implemented flood rehabilitation work related to water and sanitation with support from local partners and institutions.

Relief & Humanitarian Response

Providing practical support to vulnerable people during seasonal hardship, disasters and other adverse situations.

BRED has conducted relief activities in Bera of Pabna, Bhuapur of Tangail, and areas of Dhaka including Shyamoli and Mohammadpur. Assistance has included clothing and food items during Eid and winter seasons, support for persons with disabilities, and emergency relief during situations such as floods and COVID-19.

Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Adaptation

Helping communities prepare for, respond to and recover from floods, river erosion, cyclones and climate-related risks.

BRED integrates DRR into development interventions through community risk assessment, participatory hazard mapping, disaster management committees, volunteer teams, early warning systems, preparedness drills and post-disaster coordination. Its approach also connects resilience with WASH, livelihoods and local-government planning.
